Trumps’ persona in public is not the “I’ll say whatever you want to hear politician” or “social justice warrior” Hollywood celebrity that weak minded Americans idolize.
I do not know the man personally or his motivations but actions by far speak louder than words.
Returning America to a meritocracy from a Democrat mandated DEI mediocrity, reversing a Democrat facilitated illegal invasion by 15 million unvetted armies and trying to equal the foreign trade playing field through tariffs are positive substantive policies.
As for tariffs, as Americans we do two basic things with our earnings - we buy stuff or we give it to government in coercive taxes. If tariffs can increase revenue and lower the need for coercive taxation as Trump economic advisors believe, then wouldn’t you rather possibly pay a bit more in “deciding” what to spend your money on as a consumer or would you rather have it stolen from you in taxes to enrich the political class, corporations and foreign nations?
